Dr. Tavitian formed Kanon Ventures to both pursue new investment opportunities and manage the firm’s portfolio of assets. Primarily focused on real estate ventures, Dr. Tavitian’s success hinges on his understanding of urban transformation, and the ability to make targeted investments across various product-types that catalyze and build-upon that transformation. He is responsible for Kanon Ventures major redevelopment and new construction projects, and manages high-level tenant relationships. Dr. Tavitian began his career as a physician, and successfully established and grew a variety of healthcare businesses.

Principal
Dr. Tavitian formed Kanon Ventures to both pursue new investment opportunities and manage the firm’s portfolio of assets. He has been a successful investor and entrepreneur throughout his professional career, which includes the acquisition, repositioning and management of Kanon’s real estate portfolio. Dr. Tavitian began his career leading a medical practice in gastroenterology that expanded into a multi-specialty medical group. He has subsequently started multiple successful healthcare ventures based on his unique perspective and understanding of the healthcare delivery system. Dr. Tavitian holds a B.A. in Economics and an M.D. from the University of Southern California.

Managing Director
Mr. Hovsepian provides strategic guidance and operational direction, pursues new investment opportunities, and works closely with the Principals in managing all activities for Kanon Ventures. Prior to Kanon, Mr. Hovsepian was a founding member of Vista HealthCare, where he created stakeholder value through acquisition and turnaround of distressed hospitals. Prior to Vista, he was a Managing Director at FTI Consulting in the Corporate Finance/Restructuring practice, working with companies ranging from $100 million to $15 billion in revenues. He has been a Board member and advisor to numerous private equity firms and portfolio companies, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of LifeCare Health Partners. Mr. Hovsepian began his career at Price Waterhouse as a Certified Public Accountant, and earned a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Southern California.

Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Javellana oversees the finance, information technology and human resource departments for Kanon Ventures. She was previously Chief Financial Officer for Premier Health Management Group, overseeing the finance, billing and business intelligence departments. Ms. Javellana has held senior leadership positions in various healthcare organizations, including an independent physician practice, urgent care system, a multi-specialty physician group and outpatient surgery centers. Previous experience includes working in the Audit practice at Arthur Anderson, 10 years in the financial services industry as Assistant Vice President in the branch banking division of Development Bank of Singapore, and Citytrust Banking Corporation, an affiliate of Citibank NA. Ms. Javellana graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from De La Salle University, holds a CPA license in the Philippines, and a Masters in Business Administration with concentration in Finance and Strategy from Peter Drucker Graduate School of Business, Claremont Graduate University.

Ms. Bromberg spearheads new real estate business development undertaken by Kanon Ventures, from the concept stage through leasing and marketing. Ms. Bromberg brings to Kanon a unique approach to adding value to real estate, which is informed by a deep understanding of the creative economy, the importance of community building, and emerging cultural trends. Ms. Bromberg managed the redevelopment and leasing of Kanon’s Atwater Crossing and the transformation of the LA Mart building into The Reef: A Creative Habitat. Ms. Bromberg is a former Thomas J. Watson Fellow, and has Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from UCLA, where she is also a PHD candidate.

Mr. Taylor oversees the financial performance of the firm’s real estate holdings, including development and implementation of strategic plans for each property in the portfolio, application of value-add activities, and regular financial reporting. Based in development and acquisition underwriting and budgeting, Mr. Taylor has previously served in senior asset management roles for institutional investors such as the CIM Group and TVP Asset, Inc., a conduit for Lehman Bros.’ investments in California real estate. He holds an MBA from Pepperdine University with an emphasis in finance and an MRICS designation earned via the Finance and Investment Pathway.

Mr. Powders manages the efficient operation of Kanon Ventures’ physical assets, and is directly responsible for engineering, maintenance, building safety and security, energy efficiency and capital projects, including tenant improvement and construction management. Prior to Kanon, Mr. Powders held management positions with St. Joseph Medical Center (Dignity Health), Cost Plus World Market and Cisco Systems. He is a Certified Plant Maintenance Manager and has a B.S. in Business Administration.

Established in 2003, Vista HealthCare was a long term acute care hospital (LTACH) company that operated 5 hospitals in California. As the second-largest LTACH operator in California, Vista served the needs of medically complex and catastrophically ill patients, and also offered specialty surgical services and outpatient procedures. Vista generated annual revenues in excess of $150 million and had 1,500 employees. Vista was sold to Kindred Healthcare (NYSE: KND) in 2010.

Founded in 2002, Glendale Physicians Alliance (GPA) was a physician lead, integrated delivery system which provided quality healthcare services on a regional geographic basis. With a strong focus on the use of technology, GPA developed innovative approaches to streamlining the administrative burden faced by physicians. GPA held contracts with the major HMOs in the region and within a period of a few years, emerged as a dominant player in the local marketplace. GPA was sold in 2008.

Launched in 1996, Premier Health Management Group (PHMG) offered health care providers a broad range of industry leading business services including revenue cycle management, workforce management, physical space, finance and accounting services, human resources and IT services. Supporting providers in over a dozen different specialty fields, PHMG developed a robust infrastructure, technology platform and in-house expertise needed to support its client base. Sold to Adventist Health in 2012, PHMG has become a key component of a statewide physician delivery expansion strategy.

Universal Primary Care (UPC) was a community based primary care medical group established in 1993 to meet the needs of patients in and around the Glendale area. Within a few years, UPC evolved into a thriving practice with six locations and employed physicians practicing in the fields of Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Endocrinology. UPC was an early adopter of managed care, contracting with local IPAs and managed care plans, becoming an integral part of the community’s managed care delivery system. During its time, UPC was the only multi-site, multi-physician primary care practice in the community. UPC was sold to Adventist Health in 2012.

Covering approximately 9,000 square feet of space including 3 operating rooms, 2 procedure rooms and 10 bed post-operative care, Chevy Chase Surgery Center is a state of the art facility that is fully licensed by the State of California and Federal Medicare program.
